The Center provides a place of belonging for multicultural students. Students are able to hang out in the CSE and enjoy building relationships with each other and the caring staff which includes a Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion. The CSE also works closely with the Student Success Center to provide academic support to multicultural students. The CSE also provides multicultural students with leadership opportunities to use their voice on campus to make cultural and campus changes that will benefit all students.
The Center serves the campus through providing a various array of education and engagement on multicultural issues. Education and engagement take many forms from education workshops, to guest speakers, conferences, etc. The CSE also creates cross-cultural engagement opportunities to allow students, faculty and staff to learn from each other. Finally, the CSE celebrates national heritage days/months such as Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month, MLK Day, Native American & Alaska Native Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
The Coordinator for Diversity contributes their voice to the decisions of the College as a whole. multicultural issues can at times be tough to navigate, and the Center for Student Engagement leads the way in providing a perspective that gives all students value and a voice.
Geneva practices a robust view of diversity derived from a belief that our Creator made a good creation with beauty and diversity in mind. The Center for Student Engagement serves as the catalyst to support our multicultural students, educate the campus on issues of diversity and inclusion, and serves the campus through providing a multicultural perspective in decision making.
